Net Zero Council

.

The Net Zero Council provides the high-level forum for government to work together with leaders from business, finance and civil society, to unlock the opportunities of the green transition.

The Broadway Initiative provides the secretariat alongside DESNZ officials, as the Net Zero Council works towards the establishment of an overarching business pathway to net zero and a single, user-friendly, net zero advice and reporting framework for SMEs.

The Broadway Initiative played a key role in establishing the Council, and coordinated the Broadway coalition of trade associations, corporates and other partners in calling for the Council to be re-energised under the Labour Government. At the same time, the final report of the Transition Market Finance Review endorsed the significance of the Net Zero Council for achieving sectoral transition planning and policy certainty.

We are delighted that not only has the Government committed to the Net Zero Council, but Secretary of State Ed Miliband has personally taken on the role of chair.

As a central part of our Net Zero Council engagement, Broadway is working to keep our member trade associations fully briefed and consulted, ensuring all sectors of the UK economy are recognised as major stakeholders in the transition to a clean energy future. We will update our website and across our social media channels as this vital and fast paced work develops, so be sure to follow us to stay up to date.
